SERVICE IS WHAT WE DO!

Since its inception, Omicron Delta Zeta Chapter has worked to cultivate relationships that create lasting community-based partnerships which help us to help others, provide resources, volunteer, and promote awareness in our service area.

Programs we've implemented include:

  • Adopt-A-School- ODZ has worked with Pine Grove Elementary, Galaxy Elementary and Carver Middle School to ensure that teachers and students had the resources they need.
  • Eldercare- ODZ has volunteered, provided supplies and raised awareness about preparing for the senior years to Lake View Care Center in Delray Beach, Boulevard Manor in Boynton Beach, the Pompey Park Seniors and St. Matthew's Episcopal Seniors Ministry.
  • Get ENGAGED!- ODZ has worked with several local organizations to include Equal Ground, South Palm Beach County Chapter of NAACP, NPHC of Palm Beach County and the National Coalition of 100 Black Women South Palm Beach County Chapter to advocate for our communities and raise awareness of underlying issues.
  • Zetas Have Heart- ODZ has participated in countless healthy living and wellness activities throughout the year to include Palm Beach Heart Walk, Making Strides Breast Cancer Walk, and the South County National Go Red Day event.
  • Zeta Prematurity Awareness and Black Maternal Health- ODZ supports the March of Dimes Prematurity Awareness Month campaign by partnering with local churches to distribute information on prematurity awareness, causes of prematurity and the importance of seeking prenatal care in an effort to decrease infant mortality and the number of low-birth-weight babies. We also present Black Maternal Health seminars and webinars throughout the year including honoring Black Doula Day.
  • Z-HOPE (Zetas Helping Other People Excel)- ODZ collaborates with countless chapters and community organizations to provide quality programs that provide maximum impact and empower our communities to thrive. From diaper drives, to turkey giveaways, to Kwanzaa, advocacy and outreach we come together to affect change.

Programs & intiatives

Adopt-A-School

The Adopt-A-School initiative was established by Zeta Phi Sorority, Inc. in 2012 to partner with a Pre-K through 12th grade school to bring about positive outcomes for students, faculty, staff, administration, and parents. The program allows members of Zeta Phi Beta to identify low performing schools and provide assistance in a number of ways to enhance the educational experience, increase test scores and grades. Members purchase supplies and/or equipment, provide volunteer hours, assist with parent engagement programs and work with administrators to identify needs that may be specific to the school. For the 2022-2023 Omicron Delta Zeta has adopted Galaxy E3 Elementary in Boynton Beach, FL. We will provide hands-on support to the Galaxy After The Bell after school program while also meeting other needs of the school including an advisory role.

Elder Care

Omicron Delta Zeta strives to provide education and awareness on preparing for the senior years through the Elder Care Initiative. In addition, chapter members regularly visit Lake View Care Center in Delray Beach, FL to provide essential items and greeting cards. Omicron Delta Zeta also partners with other local organizations for elder care outreach events such as Pompey Park Seniors and St. Matthew's Episcopal Church.

Social Action

Get Engaged! was designed to address the underlying issues in our communities: drive individual and community engagement; empower citizens to get involved; and cultivate a culture of mutual respect in our communities. The NAACP is our primary collaborator on criminal justice and voter education, registration and protection efforts. Zeta Phi Beta, Inc. encourages members to take small actions that deliver big impact: attend local PTA and city council meetings; engage with elected officials and law enforcement officers; get out the vote; and help other women become more involved in the political process. Omicron Delta Zeta Chapter works with several local organizations to include Equal Ground, South Palm Beach County Chapter of NAACP, NPHC of Palm Beach County and the National Coalition of 100 Black Women South Palm Beach County Chapter to advocate for our communities.

International Women of Color

This is one of five components of Z-HOPE. The programming benefits include support for those with AIDS and those caring for AIDS victims, literacy programs, building water wells, donating rice and much more. We have built more than 52 water wells throughout Ghana. We have recently launched a Well Maintenance program to ensure that our wells are consistently functioning and providing potable water to the villages. We also built a clinic at the Afua Kobi Apem Senior School for girls in Ghana. Enrollment at the school went from 1,200 to 2,000 after opening the clinic. Villagers can also visit the health center and often do. The clinic has dramatically improved the health of the girls and their families.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated has a national partnership with the American Cancer Society. Through our partnership, we are actively engaging communities to fight back against cancer, including recruiting members to participate in the American Cancer Society - Making Strides Against Breast Cancer® National Team Program. Omicron Delta Zeta will raise funds and participate in the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides for Breast Cancer walk during the month of October. We will also wear pink for our October chapter meeting.

Zeta Prematurity Awareness (ZPAP)

Since 1972, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. has partnered with the March of Dimes in an effort to encourage women to seek prenatal care, thereby increasing the prevention of birth defects and infant mortality. Each year during the entire month of November, Omicron Delta Zeta supports March of Dimes’ Prematurity Awareness Month and World Prematurity Day on November 17th by distributing information on prematurity awareness, causes of prematurity and the importance of seeking prenatal care in an effort to decrease infant mortality and the number of low-birth-weight babies. Each year, Omicron Delta Zeta conducts Prematurity Awareness Sunday activities in houses of worship in the Delray Beach, Boynton Beach, and Boca Raton areas.

Zetas Have Heart

Zeta’s Have Heart is a national initiative focused on healthy living designed to increase awareness about heart disease in African-American women and to support members of Zeta and the community in getting fit and becoming more active. Omicron Delta Zeta strives to participate in healthy living activities throughout the year to include the annual Heart Walk. In recognition of the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women campaign, Omicron Delta Zeta observes National Wear Red Day by participating in an annual "Go Red" event and wearing red for our February chapter meeting.

Z-HOPE

Z-HOPE™ (Zetas Helping Other People Excel) is the international service program of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. that has primary objectives, corresponding measures of success and a mechanism for chapter recognition. Z-HOPE will be implemented across the United States and in selected international countries. Chapters are encouraged to collaborate with existing community organizations and resources to provide optimal quality programs that provide maximum impact.

The primary objectives are:

  • To eliminate disparities in Black America and increase awareness and prevention
